This story starts out, not as Konoha, but as the sickly Haruka Kokonose. He was a high schooler in a special class for sick children, with his only classmate being Takane Enomoto and his teacher Kenjirou Tateyama. They both became super close, having been with pretty much only each other for years. Haruka has a creative mind, and a body was one bad 'attack' away from dying. Several times he had talked about wanting a body where he was strong, able to be out having fun with friends, to do as everyone else could. After some Culture Festival Filler and during several month-long trips to the hospital over the course of a year, Haruka was inspired into designing a character to go with his new handle, which was created after Takane showed him a video game, and copying how she messed with her name created "Konoha" (Kokonose Haruka). Not too long after he finished designing Konoha does Haruka suffer a stroke while in summer school. He had been in the room with Takane, but she had been ignoring him. After she realized he was too quiet while playing the video game, she found him unresponsive. He was rushed to the hospital, and was pronounced noncritical after a long surgery.
This is where the story enters its more-expected dark (and magical) area. Konoha's teacher, Kenjirou Tateyama was also possessed by a snake, who wanted to fulfill his wish of bringing back his wife, who was also lost to the Haze. This snake had to bring all the rest of the snakes out in the mortal world to accomplish this, which meant that it propelled Kenjirou to kill both Haruka and his classmate and friend Takane, because Haruka's wish for a stronger body would call to the Snake of Awakening Eyes, which has the ability to make a body which fits the user's ideal. Takane also had a wish that a snake could grant (the Snake of Opening Eyes), this one taking away her needs of a mortal body and strengthening her mind.
So Haruka dies. He gets pulled into the Heat Haze. He gains the power to remake his body, which he does into one that is nigh indestructible. The price for this however, was his memories. The newly made Konoha doesn't remember any part of himself other than his new name and the wish to have friends. As Konoha he actually ends up living at Kenjirou's house after his transformation.
Konoha meets and befriends two children at Kenjirou's house: a young boy and girl, Hibiya and Hiyori respectively.
After this point is where the timelines diverge. In one, Konoha doesn't meet the Mekakushi Dan until after he is possessed himself by the Clearing Eyes Snake, and comes as Kuroha to kill them all. In another, he meets the Dan after helping save a department store, this time as Konoha.
He also somehow got stuck in the Haze again, and got to watch the two children die over and over, unable to help. The only reprieve came when Hibiya gained a Snake's Eye Power, leaving Hiyori trapped in the Haze while the males could leave. When they both get out they were separated, and Konoha searches with members of the Dan for Hibiya. This is the route Konoha is coming from.
Personality:
One of the first things people may see about Konoha would be that he can seem very emotionless, clueless, and quiet. The first two can easily be explained as a result of his amnesia. He is a "created human" starting from late teenager-hood. He didn't get the same chances a normal person would have gotten through childhood and the years after to ask questions, experience things, or learn to express emotions freely. This means he's got all the worldly experience of a child, and the mentality to question and watch quietly instead of being boisterous and miss something.
What people would have to spend time with him to figure out is that, behind these first impressions, is a person who is extremely caring, protective and determined. One of the only things he remembered when he woke up as "Konoha" was the wish to have friends, so every potential friend and living being is precious to him. He plays with children in the neighborhood he lives in, he goes against armed terrorists to save a department store full of hostages, he willingly gets between people (even those he only recently met) and anything endangering them. All of these are instances where his caring, protective and determined sides have come strongly to the fore.
His friends especially are everything. He wants them to be healthy, happy, and safe. Konoha spent hours searching for the two children, Hibiya and Hiyori, that were staying at the same house he was, when they got caught in the Heat Haze Daze. He would go so far as to cry when Hibiya would not let him help find Hiyori, and spent a considerable time searching for her with him even after he learned she might be gone forever. He could not stand the idea she might not be out there, and was determined to keep searching until he found her.
Beyond the two children, he also has close friendships with the members of the Mekakushi Dan, after he and Hibiya joined. The Dan, consisting of Kido, Kano, Seto, Mary, Momo, Ene and Shintarou, have become his second home. Here, he's gained very easy acceptance into a close-knit group, one who shares a great understanding of what he went through with the Haze and the accompanying Eye Power. Thanks to that power, he actually became their "combat expert" and main line of defense in the case of Bad Things Happening (which is frequently), which is a great show of mutual trust from a group of people who do not always trust easily.
Some other traits he has managed to keep a hold of after his transformation from Haruka to Konoha are a kindness to others, a gentleness in his everyday actions, and penchants for naps and eating large amounts of food.
Gem Considerations:
Strontianite would be a good fit for Konoha, for several reasons. First, it's characterized by confidence, which Konoha does have as a very decisive person, strength, which he has more of than he probably truly needs, and self-control, which he has in terms of not hurting anyone with his strength and needs because of all the times the Clearing Eyes snake has managed to take control of him. It also is said to increase vitality and endurance, which Haruka needed and Konoha has. Interestingly, it helps "awaken your kundalini serpent power" which is very hilarious, considering his powers are gifted from the Awakening Eyes Snake. Konoha's gem would be located on his solar plexus, since that is associated with transformation and power.
Power considerations:

Konoha has a super strong/durable body in canon, so some of the powers would be familiar. He'd use whatever he has to protect people, and if he saw all the Bad Ends he'd be pretty upset if he was the one to hurt anyone else.

- He had a weak body and liked to draw because of that, and created this OC with the ideal body he wanted to have
- He had a stroke that August 15th, nearly died then was experimented on by his teacher, who was possessed by this douche magic snake with the Clearing Eyes power, and finally died
- he ended up resurrecting with his own snake eye power, the Awakening Eyes, which lets him remake his body into what he wanted, but it cost him his memories
- So now you have this amnesiac teenage guy who likes to play with children, eat, sleep, and help people
- he got stuck with these two children in the Haze, and gets to watch them die over and over after going through the Haze himself, until one finally gets a snake
- He joins the other children with eye powers, becoming number 9 of the Mekakushi Dan
- He gets his body taken over by the Clearing Eyes Snake and it kills the Dan
- One member of the Dan used her eye power to "restart" what happened over, so now they all are stuck in a time loop of the same several days, starting with August 14th.
- (Konoha gets taken over in most if not all other time loops, again usually killing the Dan as what is called Dark Konoha, or even Kuroha by fans)
